Thanks for posting this great article. Like you, I read this story early in my career. It was also very great to see the comment by Lori. If possible, I'd love to see a digital scan of the ad - my disappeared in a move :(

Hi, Mickey. Great post. That ad and the story behind it really helped guide me early in my career as a copywriter, lo these many years ago. Any chance you have a digital copy of it? I would love to see it again, but can't find it anywhere. Thanks!

Hi Lori,

Thanks for your comment. I never met Bud, but as I mentioned in the post, I've carried that dog-eared ad around for, oh, close to 30 years. It was one of the best examples I've ever read of what we're all trying to get to in this business...yes, even in these days of the Facebook, Twitter and The Subservient Chicken.Hope you keep reading...

I just happened to "google" Bud Robbins and found this link ... I lived with Bud in the early eighties for several years before he passed away in 1984 ... seeing this story again brought tears to my eyes ... thanks so much for remembering and sharing this ... he was a great guy and I am not sure what he would think of all this internet stuff... but It's so nice to think people remember and it does matter that we are passionate about what we do with our lives ... thanks ... Lori
